They’re 8 years old and they live in a big old house with their mom and dad.

They love drawing, riding their bike, and learning about animals— especially ones in the ocean. They’re a little bit scared of the dark, but if you ask Jamie what the worst thing in the world is… worst than the dark, or monsters, or the ghost in the attic…

being BORED! (Truly the worst.)

Why is why…

they asked their mom, “Why doesn’t anything fun ever happen to me?? Why can’t I fly off in a space ship or talk to animals? Instead I’m just here, stuck being a kid.”

“You might be able to do some of those things when you grow up Jamie, but you can do ALL of those things right now— just in your imagination!”

She picked up the notebook beside Jamie’s bed. “Here, why don’t you draw yourself doing some fun things? Maybe you can tell me tomorrow what you come up with and we can turn it into a story?”

Because when tomorrow arrived, it seemed like it was just a regular ordinary day.

However, when Jamie woke up, they knew right away that something was different about their home. Something a little strange…
